I want to educate, inspire, and empower people to enjoy life more naturally, sustainably, simply, beautifully, and cruelty-free. My hope is that together we will create abundance through lush, organic, regenerative kitchen gardens, clean, healthy, non-toxic homes, and plant-based dishes that delight and nourish the belly, body and soul – and all of this leads to growing, gathering and giving - with family, friends and community.
As cliche as it may sound, everything I've done has led me to this!
As a very young child, I donated my entire life savings ($13) to the Jerry Lewis muscular dystrophy foundation. My father spent his spare time in the garden and family vacations were spent in Yosemite and Mammoth, California, where he instilled in me a great love and respect for nature and wildlife. My mother inspired me to cook from the moment I could hold a spoon. Her kitchen was always filled with great smells and great love and there I had the space to be creative, make a mess, be fearless and experiment - a metaphor for life!
My professional experience spanned 35 years as a marketing, branding and communications executive with a passion for organizational, strategic and social service program development and partnerships. A few of my career highlights include:
Opening, operating and owning restaurants and a luxury spa wellness resort set on 65 acres of garden landscape. Celebrating Earth Day and sustainability by imagining and producing a Guinness World Record for the most donated goods in one day, and developing a national partnership and tour promotion with Beyoncé, to raise funds and awareness for career training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities - both for Goodwill Southern California, one of the world's largest recyclers and social service organizations. Launching my own line of bestselling kitchen products (beating out Rachael Ray as the number one Casserole Carrier on Amazon.) Organizing and operating the Cowboy and Rousseau Animal Assistance Fund (CARAAF), a nonprofit dedicated to providing sick and injured rescue dogs and their families grants for medical care. Most recently, as a Vice President at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), I helped develop, launch and market community benefit programs that create equity and address climate change throughout Los Angeles.
And the common denominator among all of these professional passions and successes was always ONE thing...
I wanted to create meaningful experiences that empower and enrich the lives of others while caring for planet, people, and animals.
Personally, I am passionate about animal rights and rescue and have maintained a vegan and cruelty-free household for several years now. I clean my house "the Norwegian way" with Norwex and water. And, I am committed to reducing the waste I create and my impact on the planet, and to helping others do the same. In 2023, I formed Lil Valley Farm and brought my garden dreams to life growing an abundance of organic produce using the intensive planting and regenerative, organic methods I have learned over the years. Today, I am harvesting everything I know about gardening, sustainability, and preparing plant-based meals and recipe development, to share the coaching and services of Domesticarian with anyone who wants to learn and grow with me.
In addition to the talented trades people I work with, the full time Domesticarian team is small but mighty, and includes me and my five rescue dogs. Carley, is a Cheagle from the streets of LA. Elliot and Bodhi are two animal testing survivor Beagles from Beagle Freedom Project (BFP). Josie, is a who-knows-what-mix tripod. And Gretchen, is a tiny 8 pound wonder snapped up from death row (also by BFP) at fourteen to show us what resilience and forgiveness is all about. They all supervise my daily operations and make sure I take time to stretch, head outside for a breather, and enjoy cuddles throughout the work day.
